Also in the running:  Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas. We are essentially in an arms race, not only with our border states" but with the country and world, Rep. Jason Sheppard, a Republican from Lambertville in Monroe County, said on the House floor before voting in favor of the bills.
"If we do not equip our state organizations with the consistent and meaningful tools to attract new industry here to create jobs, we'll always be at a disadvantage," said Sheppard, who has a background as a commercial real estate agent.

Trump's America: Northampton County, Pennsylvania

Hey, let's hear another round of 'lock her up'.  Six months after Trump’s inauguration, with a daily war raging over the president’s own alleged deceptions and major campaign promises going unfulfilled, a perceptible shift in mood has set in among Trump voters interviewed for an ongoing Guardian series in Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
The thrill of victory, for many Trump backers, has been replaced by something closer to disgust – the kind of disgust that makes people turn off the news.
They still back the president. But they express sharp resentment of the president’s perceived enemies in the media and official Washington, and describe fatigue from defending a political figure who does not always make it easy. In a striking number of interviews, the conversation eventually turns to the candidate Trump beat eight months ago – Clinton – whose alleged trespasses are brandished to answer questions about Trump’s alleged trespasses.

Trump's America: Mesa County, Colorado

The narrative of “Trump’s America” in rural Colorado is bleak but not hopeless.  (Denver Post, 7/19/2017)
But inside my classrooms at Colorado Mesa University (a place Hessler calls a “bright spot” in his recent, expert analysis of Trump’s rural America), I feel a fragile potential for more. My husband, a new high school math teacher and soccer coach in the valley, feels it too. It’s why we’re here, and why we know our young people are the first and best hope to breathe life into a struggling community.

That was then, this is now: Rasmussen Trump approval ratings

That was then

 Source:  @realDonaldTrump

This is now

It's over, baby!  Under previous circumstances, your poll numbers taking a slide, Rasmussen was eager to come to your rescue.  Guess they just don't have the predisposition to prop you up anymore.

In the meantime, "The Clapping Song" is probably a good idea.

"The Clapping Song" was Shirley Ellis' 3rd and final single to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It debuted at #75 for the week ending March 20, 1965, and spent a short 9 weeks on the chart, peaking at #8.

Mechanic-in-chief Donald Trump refuses to service ACAmobile, sez let it run til it falls apart

Reported in Senate Republicans’ effort to ‘repeal and replace’ Obamacare all but collapses.  (Washington Post, 7/18/2017)

Obamacare has become such a political football that the GOP, having painted themselves into a corner 7 years ago, can't find the gumption to say, "Let's work together to make this thing run better."

Democrats continue to reach out.

Starting is in McConnell's wheelhouse. Finishing, spectacularly not.

Trump's America: Pontotoc County, Mississippi, most vulnerable to job displacement

Study: 1 in 4 U.S. Jobs At Risk of Offshoring.  (U.S. News, 7/17/2017)
Pontotoc County is #2 on at most risk to offshoring list, behind Aleutians East Borough in Alaska.  "[T]here is a great degree of regional variation in the risk of job losses due to offshoring and automation. There are clear clusters of high risk in the industrialized Midwest and in several urban places across the country," the report says. "Industrial structure, educational attainment and the degree of rurality all affect the potential employment risk of increased automation and trade-related job losses."

Aerial view of Middleton's 3rd ward.  A 2009 inventory identified 2,335 ash trees along streets and on public lands (not trees on private property) -- 28% of the city's total trees at the time.  The recommended urban forestry guideline is no more than 20% of any genus and 10% of any species.

Do they still picnic in Segoe Park?

If so, it's not likely that anyone carries a picnic basket.

Segoe Park is a 1.92-acre mini park located on Segoe Road between Mineral Point and Odana roads on Madison's west side.

The park is located within the Midvale Heights neighborhood, an area of Madison which saw its greatest period of growth take place after World War II and into the 1950s.  Odell Street (highlighted in orange) was the 1955 Parade of Homes site.
