If you want to go slower and be smug about it, George, do what I do and take an alternate route.

Take U.S. 14 to Evansville, state highway 213 to Beloit.

You won't have to waste time "to read interesting signs painted on trucks".  Just enjoy the landscape scenery.

Reflecting on speed limit changes: At Slower Pace, Less of Rat Race.  (Wisconsin State Journal, 5/25/2015)

Interstate highways were built for speed, George, not as a premise for a silly essay.
But auto travel at 50 can be nerve-racking also. Tuesday, in a 52.4-mile trip on Interstate 90 to Beloit, while moping along at 50, I was passed 44 times by every manner of vehicle. I was tailgated closely 10 times, and cut off entirely once.
And how many times did someone flip you the bird?
