The Colorado River Basin is the Driest It's Been in 1250 Years

Colorado River Drought Forces a Painful Reckoning for States. (The New York Times, 1/5/2014)

And how dry is that?    The once broad and blue river has in many places dwindled to a murky brown trickle. Reservoirs have shrunk to less than half their capacities, the canyon walls around them ringed with white mineral deposits where water once lapped.

Population growth continues apace in Clark County.

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is subsidizing these, among other items.
