Howard "Less Government...More Jobs" Marklein Announces State Senate Run

For the seat currently occupied by Dale Schultz.

Hitting the ground running, eh?

Probably a good idea, since he won his 2012 race for re-election against newcomer Maureen "Mo" May-Grimm with just 51.9% of the vote.

In spite of the "They'll be time for campaigns later" comment in paragraph 2, paragraph 3 makes it clear that Sen. Schultz has not made an unequivocal decision to run for a 6th full term in the State Senate.  Such a quick and feisty response, however, makes it appear to me that the sit-down in early 2014 will be nothing more than a formality.

A Madison native (Madison West HS class of 1971; UW-Madison class of 1975), Schultz was first elected to the Wisconsin  State Assembly in 1982.  He won a special Senate election in 1991, and has been re-elected ever since.

In his most two recent re-elections, Schultz won with nearly 63% of the vote in 2010 and 54% in 2006.
